I came across a pretty interesting statistic recently, that only 8% of people who set new years resolutions and goals for the year actually achieve them in that year. 8%! That means that 92% of people who set goals don’t achieve them. That’s the people who do set goals. What that means is that there’s a lot of people out there who aren’t necessarily feeling as fulfilled as they could be.
Based on years of successfully coaching and assisting people, I want to share with you the 3 major blocks that I see in setting and achieving great goals.
3 Major Blocks to Achieving Your Goals
The first block is that people often make the mistake of setting goals that aren’t necessarily aligned with their values or their ideals. Values are the things that you do in the world that are important to you. The things that you put time, energy, action and money into. Ideals are the ways of being that are important to you. They’re how you like to be and how you like to feel in the world. If the goals that you set are not aligned with your values and if they don’t assist you to feel and be the way you want to feel and be, then the likelihood of you being motivated towards them – either consciously or unconsciously – is diminished. Which means you’re unlikely to see that goal through to the end.
The second block that people experience in achieving and setting great goals is their beliefs and fears. Each and every one of us is running a whole bunch of limiting beliefs and dysfunctional fears that separate us from having what we want to experience in life and living according to our heart’s desires. When it comes to setting goals, you are likely, on some level, to have limiting beliefs and fears that might separate you from being able to achieve that goal.
The third big block that people experience is not taking action. Not having accountability to take that action but more than anything, not knowing what action to take. I say this all the time, “Action equals results.” If you’re not taking action or don’t know what action to take, the likelihood of you achieving your goals or setting great goals is diminished.

3 Hot Keys to Achieving Your Goals
It’s very simple.
1. Set and achieve goals that are aligned with your values and your ideals. Not someone else’s values and ideals, yours. What’s really important to you.
2. Identify the limiting beliefs and dysfunctional fears that are going to hold you back from achieving your goals and clear them. Release them and develop a new system of belief, a whole new system of relating to achievement that’s going to assist you to succeed.
3. Set and take actions. Don’t set yourself too many actions, maybe 2 or 3 actions a week that are going to assist you to move towards that goal.
