The most common advice I find myself giving people on the topic of Purpose, Life Purpose and being of Service is this:
Purpose is a PATHWAY, not a destination.
When we surrender our attachment to the destination and the necessity for the revelation of “why am I here”, we generally find that we’ve always been travelling in the perfect direction.
Bringing conscious awareness to the process amplifies it of course.
The best way to do this is not so much to gain the knowledge of your PURPOSE before taking steps – you could be waiting all your life.
It’s more to simply ask yourself…
“What is the most impactful, joyful, meaningful thing I can do for myself, my family, my community and humanity right here and now.”
Like fully accepting that you are right where you need to be, and have everything you need – right here and now.
AND with that what impact can you create, what action can you take to serve yourself and others to the highest?
If Purpose is a pathway paved by a trail of pebbles, each of those pebbles is that action.
You just keep picking them up one pebble at a time.
The action doesn’t need to be big, have status or self-importance wrapped up in it – it doesn’t even need to be noticed.
Legacy is often best left in silence with humility, following joy.
Remember travelling a pathway is a step-by-step thing, and generally small ones.
And like any pathway, eventually the destination becomes apparent.
We may not know truly why we are here until that moment after our final breathe when we have the ultimate perspective on the unfolding of our life that was.
But I’m pretty sure we’ll see the perfection in it.
So embrace that perfection now, let go of the need to know your PURPOSE before following purpose….
Because the only time to be make your mark, to leave your legacy is right here IN THE NOW!
To all the people consciously walking the path of service, or taking the chance to follow their heart, bravely just doing “your thing”, following inspiration rather than fear…
I see you and honour you.
Be ALL that you are
